Lack of Afro is Adam Gibbons, a multi-instrumentalist, DJ/Producer based out of London, England. Hello Baby is his fifth studio album release and first with his own label LOA Records. Contributing artists include Grammy-award winner Joss Stone, Professor Elemental, Elliott Cole, Juliette Ashby, Herbal T, and Emma Noble.

Stylish, creative and pleasantly well-paced, Hello My Baby is Lack of Afro through and through and although not on the same level as 2014's stellar Music For Adverts, the overall effect is sheer finger-snapping-body-shaking delight. Expressing elements of retro soul, funk, and jazz, the songs are well-crafted, upbeat and downright appealing. While the album has plenty of wonderful moments, including stunning performances by soul singer Juliette Ashby and Emma Noble, it begins to unravel near the end with steampunk legend Professor Elemental. The dub beats are fantastic, but the chap-hop style vocals ruin it for me. Overall Hello My Baby is another great release by Lack of Afro worth recommending, especially If you feel like you're in a happy–go–lucky kind of mood. Standout tracks include "Hello Baby," "All of My Love (feat. Juliette Ashby)," "Take You Home (feat. Joss Stone)," and "Fires Glow (feat. Emma Noble)."
