Baroness is a band from Savannah, Georgia that formed back in 2003. In 2012, they survived a bus crash while touring in England that left members John Baizley, Allen Blickle and Matt Maggioni seriously injured. After their recovery Allen Blickle (drums) and Matt Maggioni (bass guitar) left the group and were replaced by Nick Jost and Sebastian Thompson. The current lineup now includes John Baizley (rhythm guitar, lead vocals), Peter Adams (lead guitar, vocals), Nick Jost (bass guitar) and Sebastian Thomson (drums, percussion). Purple is their fourth studio release.

Purple is a release worth every minute you're willing to give it.  It's a near brilliant record, their sound evolving with a mesmerizing rhythm section, stunning guitar interplay, and solid songwriting. The songs hit hard yet are melodic, full of energy and consistently surprising. I would describe the music as progressive metal with soaring instrumentation and James Hetfield-Esq vocals. In a time when so much electronic and pop is shoved in your face, it's inspiring that a metal band can deliver such an emotional and electrifying feast such as this. Look out below! Baroness' latest release Purple is going to kick your ass! Standout tracks include "Morningstar," "Shock Me," "Fugue," and "Chlorine & Wine."
